Get a Care Plan QuoteWhat is WordPress maintenance and why does it matter?
WordPress maintenance is the ongoing work required to keep your website secure, up to date, performing well, and backed up. This includes applying updates to WordPress core, plugins, and themes; monitoring for security threats; running backups; and responding when something breaks.
It's not optional. An unmaintained WordPress site will be attacked — often automatically by bots scanning for known vulnerabilities. When a Sydney business owner calls us after their website has been hacked, the cause is almost always an outdated plugin or WordPress version. The fix takes hours or days. A care plan costs a fraction of that.
Who this is for
Our WordPress maintenance service is for Sydney business owners and operators who:
- Have an existing WordPress website and don't want to manage updates and security themselves
- Have been hacked before and want to prevent it from happening again
- Are not sure when their website was last backed up (or whether it's backed up at all)
- Are running an outdated version of WordPress or have plugins that haven't been updated in months
- Want a reliable, local point of contact who will respond when something goes wrong
- Need minor content updates and small changes handled quickly without the cost of a full project
What's included in our care plans
Monthly Core & Plugin Updates
We apply all WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates monthly with pre-update backups. If an update breaks something, we restore from backup and investigate.
Daily Offsite Backups
Daily automated backups stored in a separate offsite location with 30-day retention. If your server fails or is compromised, your data is safe.
Security Monitoring
Continuous monitoring for malware, suspicious file changes, brute-force login attempts, and known vulnerabilities. Issues are flagged and addressed before they escalate.
Uptime Monitoring
24/7 uptime checks with immediate notification if your site goes offline. We investigate and act — you don't need to discover it from a frustrated client.
Performance Review
Quarterly review of your website's Core Web Vitals and load speed. We identify and fix issues that are slowing your site down and hurting your Google ranking.
Same-Day Response
Business-hours same-day response to any issue that affects your website's availability, security, or performance. Minor content updates included on all plans.
WordPress support across Greater Sydney
We provide WordPress maintenance and support to small businesses across all of Greater Sydney. Our clients include tradespeople in Western Sydney (Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith), professional services firms in the CBD and North Sydney, retailers on the Northern Beaches and Eastern Suburbs, and service businesses in Sydney's Inner West and Southern suburbs. Everything is handled remotely — there's no need to be in the same suburb. You'll have a Sydney-based contact who understands your business and responds promptly.
Frequently asked questions
How often does WordPress need to be updated?
WordPress core, plugins, and themes should be updated monthly at minimum, and often more frequently when security patches are released. Running outdated software is the single most common cause of hacked WordPress websites. On our care plans, we handle all updates on a fixed schedule with pre-update backups so we can roll back if anything breaks.
What happens if my site gets hacked?
On our care plans, malware removal is included. We'll restore from a clean backup (taken before the attack), remove any malicious code, identify and close the vulnerability that was exploited, and submit a review request to Google if your site has been flagged. We also implement hardening measures to reduce the risk of re-infection.
Do I need to be on a monthly plan, or can I just pay per incident?
We offer both. Ad-hoc support is available for one-off issues, fixes, and updates. However, monthly care plans work out significantly cheaper per hour of work, include proactive monitoring, and guarantee a response time. Most Sydney businesses with a website that generates leads choose the care plan.
My website was built by someone else. Can you maintain it?
Yes. We regularly take over maintenance of WordPress websites built by other developers or agencies. We start with a site audit to document the existing setup and identify any existing issues, then bring you onto a care plan from there.
Where are backups stored?
All backups on our care plans are stored offsite — separately from your hosting server. If your hosting server is compromised or fails, your backup is unaffected. We typically use encrypted cloud storage with 30-day retention.
Can you help with WordPress performance issues?
Yes. Slow WordPress sites are usually caused by unoptimised images, too many plugins, poor hosting, or no caching. Our plans include periodic performance reviews. For serious performance issues, we can rebuild the underlying infrastructure — switching hosting providers, implementing CDN, or refactoring caching.
